Cooper & Kowalski Team Prevails in Legal Malpractice Lawsuit

Cooper & Kowalski Attorneys Gerry Kowalski and Sarah Skow successfully defended a prominent law firm against allegations of legal malpractice arising from estate administration and business transactions which concluded more than 20 years ago. After protracted discovery, the trial court granted summary judgment to the Cooper & Kowalski client on all of the plaintiffs' claims based on the defenses of laches, collateral estoppel and statute of limitations. Kowalski and Skow then filed and prevailed on a Motion for Sanctions based on the frivolous conduct of plaintiffs' counsel and plaintiffs' under R.C. 2323.51 in Civil Rule 11. The trial court granted a significant sanctions award against the plaintiffs and their counsel, thus vindicating the client's conduct and reputation.
